Week of Respect – "The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.L.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year be designated as a “Week of Respect” in New Jersey. In order to recognize the importance of character education, school districts are required to observe the week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing harassment, intimation or bullying (HIB). Among others, the following age appropriate resource is available on the NJDOE’s website":  Please read below for K-4 book guides on friendship, respect, and tolerance.

Global Friendship--Caring Makes A Difference -- "The 911 Curriculum, Learning from the Challenges of Our Times (K-4), and the K-4 Holocaust Genocide Curriculum are available on the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education website (http://www.state.nj.us/education/holocaust/). These guides stress the importance of respecting diversity and appreciation of others while providing book recommendations and lesson plans that stress the importance of respect for others and ways to deal with issues of prejudice and bias in the classroom."  (Source:  NJDOE)
