Kinnelon continues to expand its academic and elective offerings to meet student interests, workforce demands, and college and career readiness goals.
Beginning in 2025–26, the Industrial Arts program returns with hands-on Woodshop and Home Repair courses, providing students with valuable real-world skills. A new Robotics and Engineering teacher will enhance the district’s STEM programming, offering dynamic electives for students interested in technology, engineering, and design.
To support the arts, a Drama teacher will join the staff to offer Theater courses at both PRM and KHS, expanding access to performing arts across grade levels. The district will also introduce the Tomorrow’s Teachers program at KHS to inspire and prepare students interested in pursuing careers in education.
In visual arts, Digital Imaging CP and Digital Photography: A Life-long Lesson have been restructured into two new courses:
In science, Physics instruction has been redesigned to align more closely with students’ math readiness. A new Algebra-Based Physics Honors course (open to students who have completed Geometry) will lead into College Physics, culminating in a strengthened AP Physics C course to better support student mastery of complex content.
AP Calculus BC will now be offered as a 6-credit course, with the addition of a lab period to reflect the depth of material covered—equivalent to both Calculus I and II. This course is taught in a loop with Precalculus Honors by the same instructor, ensuring students benefit from continuity in instruction as they move through the advanced mathematics pathway.
Looking ahead, the district is also preparing to launch Culinary Arts in 2026–27, adding to its growing list of career and technical education offerings.
