Superintendent of Schools
David C. Mango
On October 24, 2022, Mr. Mango began his tenure as the Superintendent of Schools for the Kinnelon School District. Mr. Mango comes to the Kinnelon School District with extensive administrative experience and background in special education, as well as, facility management, technology integration, and security.
During his 28 years of public school service, Mr. Mango has held positions in a variety of school districts that range from urban, suburban, urban/suburban, and suburban/rural. The positions he has held included: teacher for self-contained special education, teacher for special education resource and in-class support, weight room supervisor, head coach for Special Olympics, Assistant Principal, Principal and beginning on July 1, 2011, Superintendent of Schools.
Throughout Mr. Mango’s thirteen years as Superintendent of Schools, he has successfully navigated and secured multiple SDA Rod Grants for facility upgrades, hosted two state-wide security symposiums, passed an extension of debt service with a 3:1 vote to complete roof projects and electrical upgrades, created and established a security and shared services personnel division, led a $22 million abatement project, and introduced various dual enrollment high school electives, among other achievements.
Mr. Mango received his B.A. in Special Education with a minor in Psychology from Jersey City State College. He also received his M.A. in Urban Education with a concentration in supervision and administration from New Jersey City University. He remains committed to ensuring a safe and well-balanced learning environment and facility for the entire school community of Kinnelon.
In December 2017, Mr. Mango and his family moved to Kinnelon, attracted by the exceptional school system and opportunities available. As he serves this wonderful community, Mr. Mango ensures stakeholders that his door is always open, round the clock, and eagerly anticipates collaborating with the community on forthcoming projects, enhancements, and initiatives.
