Artificial Intelligence (AI) Resources and Information

At Kinnelon Public Schools, our mission is to inspire students to attain high levels of achievement, strive for self-sufficiency, become critical thinkers, and develop into productive, contributing citizens of society. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes an increasingly important part of the world our students are preparing to lead, it is our responsibility to guide them in using these technologies wisely, ethically, and effectively.

Our philosophy toward AI in education centers on empowering both students and educators to explore the benefits of AI while maintaining a strong foundation in human judgment, creativity, and academic integrity. We believe that AI should be a tool that supports learning, not a substitute for thinking. It should challenge learners to ask better questions, deepen their understanding, and reflect critically on the information they engage with.

For our youngest learners, AI will remain a teacher-driven tool, used behind the scenes to personalize instruction, support planning, and enhance engagement. For older students, we provide structured opportunities to interact with AI tools to build digital literacy, ethical reasoning, and future-ready skills. Across all grade levels, our implementation prioritizes safety, equity, transparency, and responsible use.

We will continue to:

  • Promote ethical AI use that supports authentic learning

  • Foster critical thinking by helping students question, evaluate, and analyze AI-generated content

  • Ensure staff and families are informed and involved in the implementation process

  • Provide professional development so educators can model and support thoughtful AI use

  • Review tools rigorously for privacy, bias, and instructional value

By weaving AI literacy into our instructional practices with care and purpose, we prepare students not just to use technology, but to understand it, shape it, and lead in a future where AI will be part of every field and everyday life.
