Participation is voluntary. Families may continue to pay by cash or check if preferred.

1. Visit PaySchools Central.

2. Select Register and follow the prompts to add your student(s).

3. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to set your password.

4. Once confirmed, you may log in anytime to make payments or check balances.

Note: For students new to the district, accounts can be set up after their first day of school.

• ✅ Multiple children in Kinnelon Public Schools: You can add all of your Kinnelon-enrolled students to the same PaySchools Central account.

• ⚠️ Different school districts cannot be linked: At this time, PaySchools does not allow students from multiple districts to be managed in one account.

  • Example: If you have one child in Kinnelon Public Schools and another in Morris County Vo-Tech, you will need to create a separate PaySchools account with a different email address for the second district.

• 👨‍👩‍👦 Multiple parent/guardian access: More than one parent/guardian can create their own PaySchools account, add the same student, and make payments (fees, fines, or lunch balances).

• 🔄 Switching districts: If you are new to Kinnelon but already have a PaySchools account from another district, you must remove the student from the old district before you can add them to Kinnelon.

PaySchools Central applies the following processing fees to all online transactions:

• Credit/Debit Card Payments: 3.25% of the total + $1.25 per transaction

• Electronic Checking (ACH) Payments: $1.75 per transaction

💡 To avoid these additional charges, families may pay by cash or check directly at their child’s school.

Fees & Fines: Viewable in the Realtime Parent Portal under Fees/Fines.

Realtime Parent Portal

•  Please allow 24 hours for payments to update in Realtime.
• If a fee appears in Realtime but not yet in PaySchools, wait up to 24 hours for the nightly sync.

• Cafeteria deposits made through PaySchools or at a cafeteria register may also take several hours or overnight to appear in Realtime

1. Log in to PaySchools Central.

2. Select fees from your dashboard (use the shopping cart).

3. Enter payment amount(s) and add to your cart.

4. Optional: schedule payments for a later date using the calendar icon.

5. Review your cart and select a payment method.

6. Complete checkout — you will receive an email receipt.

7. You may also view payment history from the dashboard.

You can also set up auto-replenishment for lunch accounts in the dashboard.

Families who wish to avoid online processing fees may pay directly by cash or check.

• Academic/School Fees:

  • Make checks payable to Kinnelon Board of Education.

  • Include student name(s), ID number(s), and a note indicating what the payment covers.

• Food Service/Cafeteria Payments:

  • Must be written separately from other school fees.

  • Make checks payable to Kinnelon Board of Education

  • Include student name(s) and ID number(s).

  • Payments must be dropped off directly at the cafeteria register by the student at KHS, PRM, and Stonybrook School.  Kiel Students can hand in cafeteria payments to their homeroom teacher. 

All cafeteria and student account balances are managed in Realtime, which serves as our district’s Point of Sale (POS) system. Because of this, transfers must be made directly in Realtime and cannot be completed through PaySchools Central.

To request a transfer between students:

1. Email Lauren Haggart at haggartl@kinnelon.org.

2. Include the following information in your email:

   • Student name(s)

   • Student ID number(s)

   • Current balance(s)

   • Amount of funds to be transferred

Once processed, the transfer will appear in the Realtime Parent Portal and will sync back to PaySchools Central that evening during the nightly update.
