As of today, 11 cases of pediculosis have been identified in grade 4, most occurring in one homeroom. All students have been screened, affected students have been treated, and all students will be rescreened on a regular basis until there is no evidence of head lice in the homeroom. Additionally, rugs and upholstery have been removed, the floors are being damp mopped nightly, and personal belongings are being stored separately in the classroom... [read more]

Important Reminder for Parents of Students Attending 6th Grade in Sept. 2010
The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services revised the administrative rules N.J.A.C. 8:57-4. The changes include two mandatory immunization requirements that effect students entering 6th grade in September 2010.

1. "Every child born on or after January 1, 1997, and entering or attending Grade Six on or after September 1, 2008, shall have received one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) given no earlier than the 10th birthday."

2. "Every child born on or after January 1, 1997, and entering or attending Grade Six on or after September 1, 2008, shall have received one dose of a meningococcal-containing vaccine, such as the medically-preferred meningococcal conjugate vaccine."

Parents are encouraged to make arrangements for children to receive these immunizations well in advance of September 2010. Students who have not presented evidence of immunization will not be permitted to attend school... [read more]
