Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
Maschios' Food Services is looking forward to another school year at Kiel
School. We will be starting the lunch program on September 15, 2008. We
look forward to offering the students and staff nutritious lunch options.
The cost for a complete lunch will be $2.25.
There will be a featured lunch everyday as printed on the menu and in
addition there will also be a choice of a Sandwich/Salad Lunch, Bagel
Bag, Cereal Bag or Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. The Sandwich/Salad
Lunch, Bagel Bag, Cereal Bag or Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich would
be available as an alternate to the Hot Lunch Entrée. The enclosed
menu clearly explains the components of the school meals.
There will be some a la carte items available for students and staff during the lunch period on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. These are listed on the menu with prices. All a la carte items offered are in compliance with the Nutrition/Wellness Policy as set forth by the district.
Students will be able to purchase a prepaid meal ticket for $45.00(20 meals). The meal ticket will be held in the cafeteria for the student use. Lunch tickets may NOT be used to purchase a la carte items. A la Carte cards in the amount of $20.00 will also be available. Please identify your purchase with your child's name, grade, and teacher. Please make checks payable to the Kinnelon Board of Education. Kiel School does limit the children to two snack items per day.
When students are using the lunch ticket and the ticket is exhausted, the cafeteria cashier will give the student their lunch ticket to bring home. If your child is without a ticket or money an IOU will be extended to them for that day only and notice will be sent home. Children with outstanding IOU's will be offered only a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich for lunch until the IOU's are paid. Please send in your check for these IOU notices the next day. Please track your child's purchase of lunch to avoid IOU notices. This will greatly help with bookkeeping in the cafeteria and keep duplicate notices from going home. Your help in enforcing this policy with your child would be greatly appreciated.
