CLUB:
Anime Club
MEETINGS:
We meet after school every Wednesday until 3:30 PM.
MISSION:
Anime Club helps students participate in the culture, language, and artistic styles of Japan.
DESCRIPTION:
Students who have a common interest in Japan's customs can collaborate, discuss, and perform national events and celebrations. Learning the language and writings of Japan will be a part of weekly meetings, as well as discussions of different art, manga, and anime styles. Students can come together with what they have in common, meet others with the same interests, learn the locations and updates of local Anime Conventions, and study the complex cultures of Japan.

CLUB:
Contemporary Vocal Ensemble
MEETINGS:
Rehearsals as called by the co-directors
MISSION:
A student-directed ensemble which performs contemporary music
DESCRIPTION:
The choir officers appoint co-directors, who implement auditions, rehearsals, and performances for the ensemble. The KHS Choir Director oversees the ensemble.

CLUB:
Envirothon Team
MEETINGS:
We meet every other week Jan - March and every week in April and everyday after school in May. The day varies based on the availability of the students that are on the team.
MISSION:
The mission of this club is to educate the team members on important environmental issues.
DESCRIPTION:
The team competes against teams from other schools during a competition in May (on a Saturday) and camps the night before at the testing location. The topics tested are soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife and a current environmental issue that changes every year. The goal is to do well on the test and prepare the students for the AP Environmental Science exam at the same time.

Fall Drama

DESCRIPTION:
Each fall, Kinnelon High School puts on a dramatic production (non-musical). The Fall Drama is open to all KHS students, and students can participate in a variety of ways, including on-stage and behind the scenes. Auditions take place in September or October for all on-stage roles.

CLUB:
Feedback - "Literature and Fine Arts Magazine"
MEETINGS:
We meet every other week (Thursdays)
MISSION:

Combining the Words, Thoughts & Art of KHS students into one publication.

Students are responsible for collecting and finalizing the selection of KHS student art and written material, designing, promoting and producing the finished publication.

DESCRIPTION:
Feedback magazine is KHS's annual literature and fine arts magazine.

Freshman Class
MEETINGS:
Every other Tuesday morning at 7:00 am
MISSION:
Raise money for class events and try to develop school spirit. Also communicate student council events.

CLUB:
Jazz/Rock Ensemble
MEETINGS:
Every Monday evening after school from November-June
MISSION:
Jazz Ensemble gives students an opportunity to perform in a traditional "Big Band" setting.
DESCRIPTION:
Students will perform a variety of musical selections, ranging from traditional Big Band standards to current Pop Hits and everything in between. Students will learn how to improvise on their instruments. Students will have the opportunity to perform in the Spring Concert. Students who wish to participate in Jazz Band must be involved in the instrumental music program, and must pass an audition in early November of every new school year.

MISSION:
To provide the Junior Class with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and friendship.
DESCRIPTION:
The Junior Class is responsible for planning and running the Junior/Senior Prom that is held every year at the end of the year. The class plans fundraisers to help subsidize the cost to the students for the prom as well as events during their senior year.

Latin Club
MEETINGS:
First Tuesday of each month plus many additional meetings for special projects
MISSION:
Latin Club-to provide an arena for Latin students to become involved as a group in fund-raisers, activities etc. for worthwhile causes
DESCRIPTION:
The Kinnelon High School Latin Club is an organization open to all Latin students. The club organizes fund-raisers such as Latin shirt and candy sales and sponsors a child from Appalachia. Additionally, Latin Club sponsors a gift drive in November in order to send a holiday package to this child.

CLUB:
National Latin Honor Society
MEETINGS:
First Tuesday of each month plus many additional meetings for special projects
MISSION:
to recognize on a national basis outstanding students of Latin; to provide a tutoring service where inducted members serve as volunteer tutors to other Latin students; to engage in academic competitions in Latin
DESCRIPTION:
The National Latin Honor Society was founded more than sixty years ago by teachers of Latin who wanted to recognize outstanding Latin students on a nation-wide basis. In order to qualify for induction into the Latin Honor Society a student must have a ninety per cent or "A" average at the time of the induction ceremony. Members receive an honor certificate and membership card.
The Kinnelon High School Chapter of the National Latin Honor Society received its charter in 1987. Since that time members have served as tutors for other students and have competed in Classics Day at Montclair State University as well as the highly competitive National Latin Exam. They have also participated in various activities and fund-raisers such as Latin shirt sales, talent shows and a holiday gift drive for a sponsored child from Appalachia. Latin Honor Society members also receive the privilege of wearing purple and gold honor cords at the graduation ceremony

Mock Trial

Mountain Bike Club
MEETINGS:
We ride on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and alternating Saturdays in the Fall and Spring.
MISSION:
To provide students who do not play traditional sports with a forum for cardiovascular activity and the camaraderie that comes along with group activities.
DESCRIPTION:
The Mountain Biking Club accepts any student who is willing to own and maintain a mountain bike and ride with others in a respectful way. The club looks to provide students with an alternative to traditional sports and foster athletic independence.

Peer Leadership
MEETINGS:

MISSION:
 
DESCRIPTION:
Open to students in 10-12 grades
Peer Leadership consists of carefully selected students who lead a year long freshman orientation, participate in other programs that promote positive academic and social decision making, and address/prevent harassment, intimidation and bullying behaviors. There may be programs delivered to the incoming 9th graders while they are at PRM and during Freshman Orientation in the last week of August. The structure of the program consists of approximately eight student Peer Leadership Advisory Board members, approximately thirty Peer Leaders and one adult advisor. The Advisory Board leads in the selection and training process of the entire program. All the Peer Leaders facilitate the freshmen orientation program. The advisor will provide overall direction, training and support to the program. The Peer Leaders go through an extensive training process that prepares them to run programs with small groups of freshmen.

Pep Band
MEETINGS:
All Kinnelon High School Home Football Games
MISSION:
Pep Band encourages school spirit and team unity by supporting our football team with musical selections at all home football games
DESCRIPTION:
Students will play a myriad of songs from our National Anthem to a variety of tunes to "pump up the crowd!"

CLUB:
The Hitching Post
MEETINGS:
We do not have regular meetings but we put out 5 issues a year and have the following for each issue: 2 general meetings, 3 Editor's meetings, and 5 layout meetings.
MISSION:
To make the school newspaper a forum for student news and ideas.
DESCRIPTION:
The student newspaper is dedicated to providing students with news from a student perspective. The Hitching Post strives to be an objective voice concerning the high school news.

To assist and advise the senior class in fund raising projects, senior events such as Spirit week, senior breakfast/brunch, senior trip, and bachlorette night.

Shakespeare Club
MEETINGS:

MISSION:
Performing arts
DESCRIPTION:
KHS will join other high school performing arts groups at the Shakesperience Festival. We will stage an abbreviated version of a Shakespeare play. All students are encouraged to join. Each year we need actors, dancers, and musicians. Students who are not interested in performing onstage can help out by making costumes, taking charge backstage, or being part of the tech team.

Social Outreach / Interact Club

MISSION:
To support all Kinnelon High School activities and school spirit by working various events and fund raisers.
DESCRIPTION:
Social Outreach Club members participate in activities and promote attendance and school spirit by working various events and fund raisers. Additionally, the club performs community service tasks to help out in the community through volunteer services and collection drives.

Spanish Honor Society/Club
MEETINGS:
The officers meet at least twice a month. The general membership meetings vary according to the activity we are planning. (tutoring, fund-raising, etc.)
MISSION:
The Spanish Honor Society/Club is made up of KHS students who have been inducted into our local chapter of the Sociedad Honararia Hispánica because they have met the standards set by the national organization (three consecutive semesters of honors work in high school Spanish).
DESCRIPTION:
The group acts as a service club, providing tutoring for KHS and PRM students and raising funds for a charitable project.

DESCRIPTION:
Each year, Kinnelon High School puts on a musical production. The Spring Musical is open to all KHS students, and students can participate in a variety of ways, including on-stage, behind the scenes, and in the pit orchestra. Auditions take place in December or January for all on-stage roles.

CLUB:
Spring Musical Orchestra
MEETINGS:
Once a week afterschool/evening, during the two months prior to the Spring Musical performance dates. There will also be daily rehearsals two weeks prior to and including the performance dates.
MISSION:
The Spring Musical Orchestra gives students an opportunity to perform complex musical scores in a professional pit orchestra setting, while learning the expectations and processes used when preparing a large scale musical theatre production
DESCRIPTION:
Students will rehearse and prepare the instrumental music component of the Spring Musical. Those students participating in the Wind Ensemble class are encouraged to sign-up for the Spring Musical Orchestra and will be selected based on instrumentation needs for the specific Musical selected. Students will be expected to attend all rehearsals and learn the music assigned to them. Rehearsal attendance is necessary to address all of the musical selections, provide added instruction, and make any accommodations needed for the success of the Spring Musical.

Tri-M Music Honor Society
MEETINGS:

MISSION:
The Tri-M® Music Honor Society is an international program dedicated to the recognition of exceptional music students in grades 6-12 that meet the music, academic, leadership, and character criteria asked of every Tri-M member. Tri-M is a program of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, which is the largest arts education association in the world.
DESCRIPTION:
Current members of KHS Chamber Singers or Wind Ensemble in grades 10-12 are eligible for induction into the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Applicant must have completed at least one semester of either class to be considered. Minimum criteria for acceptance include an A- grade average or better in KHS music classes, and a B- or better overall grade average. Character strength that includes demonstration of service, leadership, and cooperation, will also be considered.
Students accepted to the Tri-M Music Honor Society are required to participate in the annual chapter service project, which is determined by chapter officers. All new and current members must also complete an annual personal service project, in addition to the chapter service project.

TRUST Club (The Renaissance of Uniting Students Together)
MEETINGS:
Tuesdays from 2:30 to about 3:30.
MISSION:

The primary mission of the group is to provide social an recreational opportunities for students with disabilities in our elementary and middle schools.

DESCRIPTION:
The TRUST club focuses on children with disabilities and special needs throughout the Kinnelon school district. The students of the high school create fun and exciting social events for these children to enable them to make connections with others and enjoy participating with a group. The TRUST club events give special needs students the safe environment they need to be themselves and be accepted by a group, to which they are an important member. If you are an outgoing person who is kind and would like to make a difference in a child's life we need you. The Trust club is a wonderful experience for everyone.

TV and Video Club
MEETINGS:
We meet everyday with the morning show and colts roundup
MISSION:
To produce the morning show and colts roundup and to give students who have an interest in TV production a chance to try it out.

DESCRIPTION:
TV and Video Club gives you an opportunity to work for our TV station airing out programs from our school to the town. You can work in the control or if you like as an anchor for our programs the Morning Show and Colts Roundup. You do not have to be in TV production classes to be a part of the TV and Video Club, the club is open to all students.

Yearbook "Pegasus"
MEETINGS:

MISSION:
To produce a full color 184 + page yearbook each year and on time. Never have missed a deadline.
DESCRIPTION:
A group of concerned and intelligent students who sacrifice thousands of hours of their school year to produce a professional publication covering the events of the entire school year. We employ photographers, artists and graphic designers, editors and students who are dependable and serious. The work is hard and at best personally rewarding. Only the most selfless and hardworking students need apply. Our editors and workers usually apply to and get into the most competitive colleges in America. If you think you have the right stuff, come around and hang out with us.
