Motion to adopt the following resolution designating the week of May 11 - 17, 2008, as "Special Education Week": WHEREAS, the public school districts and private schools of New Jersey make a major contribution to the public welfare by preparing thousands of exceptional persons to participate as citizens of this State and as members of society; and, WHEREAS, the local public school board members, as well as the administrators, teachers, and parents of the Kinnelon Public Schools serve as advocates of the rights of exceptional citizens; and, WHEREAS, we recognize the need for dedication to provide quality education for the exceptional students of our district; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Education of the community of Kinnelon that: The

Welcome to the Special Services' website. Kinnelon Special Services provides a continuum of programs, placements and related services to meet the needs of children who are eligible to receive special education services. The Preschool Disabled Program is a half-day program for children between the ages of three and five who are experiencing developmental delays in motor skills, social-emotional behavior, cognitive abilities, and/or speech and language development. There is also a broad range of special education programs in each school in Kinnelon for students in grades K-12. Programs include resource center instruction and self-contained classes. The Self-Contained Program provides a structured learning environment in which instruction is individualized to meet the needs of the student. A variety of Resource Center options have been developed to include both support and replacement instruction. Resource Center teachers provide direct instruction in various content areas as well as assistance in developing organizational skills and learning strategies.
