CLUB:
Chamber Singers
MEETINGS:
Tuesday Evenings
MISSION:
To learn more challenging choral music than is possible during the normal school day. This group will also be the one to travel to community events and PRM as a public relations and recruiting tool.
DESCRIPTION:
The Chamber Singers is a by-audition choral group consisting of not more than 24 singers. Members of Chamber Singers rehearse a minimum of once per week in the evenings. The music is more challenging than the standard choir repertoire, and covers a variety of styles including jazz, spirituals, madrigals, classical, show tunes, and others as decided by Mr. Van Hoven. Chamber Singers will also perform at various community events throughout the year.

DESCRIPTION:
Each year in the Spring, Kinnelon High School puts on a musical. Auditions are held in December and the performances are in March or April. The Spring Musical is open to all KHS students, and students can participate in a variety of ways, including both on-stage and backstage. A different show is chosen each year, focusing on the classics of Broadway.

CLUB:
Men's and Women's Choirs
MEETINGS:
Currently Monday evenings, Tuesdays in the Spring
MISSION:
To rehearse and perform choral music arranged for same-sex singing groups (all men or all women).
DESCRIPTION:
Women's and Men's choirs rehearse in the evenings during the week. Each group will perform music arranged specifically for their voicing. These groups are open to all interested students, even those not enrolled in choir. There is no audition required.

CLUB:
Broadway Club
MEETINGS:
We meet on the first Tuesday of the month
MISSION:
Broadway Club encourages students to partake of the cultural and intellectual offerings of NYC, through the theatre experience.
DESCRIPTION:
Students will share their appreciation and enjoyment of the theatre with their classmates and the school, reinforcing through the theatre, that which they learn in the classroom. The club is self-supporting through fund-raising. It is community based; parents and community members are welcome to join us. We attend an average of one show a month. The schedule of confirmed shows that may be booked, appears on the kinnelonpublicschools.org website.

CLUB:
Envirothon Team
MEETINGS:
We meet every other week Jan - March and every week in April and everyday after school in May. The day varies based on the availability of the students that are on the team.
MISSION:
The mission of this club is to educate the team members on important environmental issues.
DESCRIPTION:
The team competes against teams from other schools during a competition in May (on a Saturday) and camps the night before at the testing location. The topics tested are soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife and a current environmental issue that changes every year. The goal is to do well on the test and prepare the students for the AP Environmental Science exam at the same time.

Feedback - "Literature and Fine Arts Magazine"
MEETINGS:
Every week, usually on Thursdays
MISSION:
We are responsible for creating KHS's annual literature and fine arts magazine. We, select artwork and written material, we photograph, edit, layout, label and format the entire magazine in- house. Then after it is completed Mrs. Toriello reviews it and we send it out to print.

The magazine is composed of students work. Either submitted by students or teachers

Feedback magazine is KHS's annual literature and fine arts magazine.

Raise money for class events and try to develop school spirit. Also communicate student council events.

Golf Club
MEETINGS:
Every Tuesday and Thursday from March 1 to June 15
MISSION:
I want to make golf, a lifetime sport, availably to any student of any level of experience at KHS
DESCRIPTION:
The golf club is a co-educational club that examines the game of golf from many aspects. Students will be taught the rules of the game. They will examine techniques to improve their swing and strategies to improve their game. This club is open to any KHS student of any ability level. Practice sessions are at Golf Worx and we travel to selected local courses to play in the afternoon. Students are responsible for any fees incurred

Graphic Arts Club
MEETINGS:
We meet each Wednesday of the week
MISSION:
Give the students an opportunity to work on projects outside the classroom assignments. They also get to work with any of the software on the computer. They have access to the books, training CD's, and resources I have donated to my class.
DESCRIPTION:

CLUB:
Habitat for Humanity
MEETINGS:
Monthly general meetings, executive meetings weekly
MISSION:
To provide an opportunity for students to volunteer in the making of homes for people who are less fortunate.
DESCRIPTION:
The club increases community awareness of local Habitat projects and raises money to help fund projects. Students also help in home site development from clearing property, painting, planting and cleaning.

Interact Club
MEETINGS:
We meet on the third Thursday of every month or on an as needed basis
MISSION:
The Interact Club is youth division of the Rotary Club. It is a service organization.
DESCRIPTION:
The club performs a minimum of one local, one national and one international project. The purpose of this organization is to answer the call and needs of the community, nation and world.

CLUB:
Interface International Club
MEETINGS:
Every 3rd week on Activity Days
MISSION:
The mission of Interface International is to foster an environment where diverse individuals meet to funnel their passions for global issues into tangible projects. It is a club where students can get involved with fundraisers which contribute to the global community. Together through the club, we have brought the school a formal statement that celebrates the extent to which one can partake in the global amalgam of human interests.
Prior fundraisers have raised moneys to support the American troops overseas, the International Children's Fund and to support a Scholars Program in Rwanda.

Junior Class

MISSION:
To provide the Junior Class with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and friendship.
DESCRIPTION:
The Junior Class is responsible for planning and running the Junior/Senior Prom that is held every year at the end of the year. The class plans fundraisers to help subsidize the cost to the students for the prom as well as events during their senior year.

Latin Club
MEETINGS:
First Tuesday of each month plus many additional meetings for special projects
MISSION:
Latin Club-to provide an arena for Latin students to become involved as a group in fund-raisers, activities etc. for worthwhile causes
DESCRIPTION:
The Kinnelon High School Latin Club is an organization open to all Latin students. The club organizes fund-raisers such as Latin shirt and candy sales and sponsors a child from Appalachia. Additionally, Latin Club sponsors a gift drive in November in order to send a holiday package to this child.

National Latin Honor Society
MEETINGS:
First Tuesday of each month plus many additional meetings for special projects
MISSION:
to recognize on a national basis outstanding students of Latin; to provide a tutoring service where inducted members serve as volunteer tutors to other Latin students; to engage in academic competitions in Latin
DESCRIPTION:
The National Latin Honor Society was founded more than sixty years ago by teachers of Latin who wanted to recognize outstanding Latin students on a nation-wide basis. In order to qualify for induction into the Latin Honor Society a student must have a ninety per cent or "A" average at the time of the induction ceremony. Members receive an honor certificate and membership card.
The Kinnelon High School Chapter of the National Latin Honor Society received its charter in 1987. Since that time members have served as tutors for other students and have competed in Classics Day at Montclair State University as well as the highly competitive National Latin Exam. They have also participated in various activities and fund-raisers such as Latin shirt sales, talent shows and a holiday gift drive for a sponsored child from Appalachia. Latin Honor Society members also receive the privilege of wearing purple and gold honor cords at the graduation ceremony

Mountain Bike Club
MEETINGS:
We ride on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and alternating Saturdays in the Fall and Spring.
MISSION:
To provide students who do not play traditional sports with a forum for cardiovascular activity and the camaraderie that comes along with group activities.
DESCRIPTION:
The Mountain Biking Club accepts any student who is willing to own and maintain a mountain bike and ride with others in a respectful way. The club looks to provide students with an alternative to traditional sports and foster athletic independence.

The Hitching Post
MEETINGS:
We do not have regular meetings but we put out 5 issues a year and have the following for each issue: 2 general meetings, 3 Editor's meetings, and 5 layout meetings.
MISSION:
To make the school newspaper a forum for student news and ideas.
DESCRIPTION:
The student newspaper is dedicated to providing students with news from a student perspective. The Hitching Post strives to be an objective voice concerning the high school news.

REBEL
MEETINGS:
One Tuesday each month - dates and frequency varies on the types of activities being pursued at the time.
MISSION:
The mission of the REBEL (Reaching Everyone By Exposing Lies) movement is to reach, educate, and empower New Jersey Youth to make healthy lifestyle decisions and to support non-smoking as the social norm.
DESCRIPTION:
This club will plan and implement 5 activities, projects and or events per schoo year focused on tobacco that will impact their peers. 3 of the 5 activities will revolve around the following Nationally observed tobacco related days: The Great American Smokeout (Nov), Kick Butt's Day (Mar), and World No Tobacco Day (May).

Spanish Honor Society/Club
MEETINGS:
The officers meet at least twice a month
MISSION:
The Spanish Honor Society/Club is made up of KHS students who have been inducted into our local chapter of the Sociedad Honararia Hispánica because they have met the standards set by the national organization (three consecutive semesters of honors work in high school Spanish). The group acts as a service club, providing tutoring for KHS students and raising funds for a charitable project.

We meet everyday with the morning show and colts roundup
MISSION:
To produce the morning show and colts roundup and to give students who have an interest in TV production a chance to try it out.

DESCRIPTION:
TV and Video Club gives you an opportunity to work for our TV station airing out programs from our school to the town. You can work in the control or if you like as an anchor for our programs the Morning Show and Colts Roundup. You do not have to be in TV production classes to be a part of the TV and Video Club, the club is open to all students.

Yearbook "Pegasus"

MISSION:
To produce a full color 184 + page yearbook each year and on time. Never have missed a deadline.
DESCRIPTION:
A group of concerned and intelligent students who sacrifice thousands of hours of their school year to produce a professional publication covering the events of the entire school year. We employ photographers, artists and graphic designers, editors and students who are dependable and serious. The work is hard and at best personally rewarding. Only the most selfless and hardworking students need apply. Our editors and workers usually apply to and get into the most competitive colleges in America. If you think you have the right stuff, come around and hang out with us.
