Re: Westland Meat Recall
You are probably aware that the USDA has issued a Class II recall to Westland Meat Company for some of their raw and frozen beef products. A Class II recall is issued with the remote probability that the beef being recalled would cause adverse health effects if consumed.
Concurrently the Kinnelon School District is on the USDA list as a school district that received recalled beef purchased through food providers from Westland Meat Company and therefore may have used the products in question.
However our food service provider, Maschio’s Food Services, has informed us none of the meat in question was received by the district for our cafeterias. I have been assured that although we were eligible for this government commodity we did not use it. Click here for the Confirmation Letter from Maschio Food Services.
If you have any questions on this matter please do not hesitate to contact our School Business Administrator, Alice Robinson, at 973-838-1418 x108 or email to robinsona@kinnelon.org.
The CEO of Maschio’s Food Service is Ken Torchia and can be reached at ktorchia@maschiofood.com or 973-598-0005.
